In the small town of Driftwood, Texas, the Waterloo Rod Company has been building rods since 1997.
Combining innovative thinking and the highest quality components with the most advanced building
techniques, Waterloo Rods continues to produce some of the finest rods available today.
Team Angler Outfitters tested, the HP Lite has lived up to that expectation.

The rod tested by team angler outfitters was built with the optional fish markers, and the all
titanium guides concept. We rigged it with a Shimano Curado reel, 10lb. line and fished it with
a variety of top waters, and plastics. The team that tested it included two men that fish 4 times a week,
one Texas guide, one Louisianna guide, and 1 woman who fishes twice a month.
Sensitivity
Our team of testers all found the feel of the rod to be above average. They said every bump and strike
was easily translated through the rod which resulted in more hook ups. One guide, fishing a slow trout bite
one day with his trusty old rod was a split second behind the small hits. After missing 3-4 fish, he switched
to the Waterloo Rod and instantly pulled in 3 fish. He quickly gave the rod to his client who then limited
on trout within the next hour.

Performance
This rod held up to the performace level we had heard so much about. Using the latest and best graphite
blanks along with the new innovative titanium guides, Waterloo has produced a rod that held up to a variety
of fishing conditions in the Texas bays and Louisianna flats.

The guides are designed with a flexible "shape memory" alloy. These guides also increase the lightness of the rod,
increase casting distance, and are rust proof.
Lightness
Our female team member noticed right away that she was able to throw cast after cast without tiring
while improving her casting distance.
The all titanium guides proved to make a difference in casting distance with the rest of the team as well.
They were able to stay further back from the fish knowing they could make
the cast with the Waterloo Rod. This allowed them to stay on the fish for longer periods of time.
Durability
Although these rods held up to our pulling in oversized redfish, numerous trout, and even a few flounder,
the real test of durability will come after the rod has aged a little longer. We have been using this rod
for 6 months now and it still produces the same results as our initial testing. However, we feel a rod's
durability test also includes the longevity of a rod, especially if the consumer is going to pay $100-$300
for a rod. This review will remain on our web site and we will provide more results of durability testing as
we continue to use this rod.
Additional Information
Waterloo Rods are covered by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
This warranty applies to the original owner and they will replace or repair the rod at their discretion
at no charge.
