Fish Belly - Gator Minnow & Kick S Shad
Angler Outfitters has been testing both of these plastics over the last few months along the Texas Gulf Coast and Florida. We
have our usual guys and gals that are on the water just about every day of the week and a few others that are weekend warriors throwing both
plastics in a variety of colors.
All reports indicate both baits caught a little of everything from redfish, speckled trout to snook with the Gator Minnow being the
more popular choice - but they all agree the Kick Shad will be hot when fall arrives.
Fish Belly the Company
Established In 2000, Fishbelly manufactures a variety of soft plastics baits based on Japanese designs with high performance.
These are realstic baits aimed at catching both fresh and saltwater species around the world.
Selection and Pricing
Gator Minnows come in sizes 5" or 6" and about 5 different colors with a pack of 5 retailing for about $6.39. A little stiff for a package
of plastics so go with the color that you like on other plastics - they do have some really good colors so that might be difficult.
The Kick Shads are also available in the 5 or 6" size in 6 color choices. A pack of 5 of these will run about $5.69. Also note that they
are still trying new colors and have added some different scents to both baits which should just add to predators reaction to these lively plastics.
Bait Action
The Kick Shad's great tail action and unique design gives you a few ways to fish this bait. The tail provides non-stop movement causing
vibrations in the water that trigger heart-stopping hits. Whether you bounce it like any other plastic or retrieve as a swim bait
the movement of the bait and tail drives the fish crazy.

Results
Speckled trout and snook are hitting the Kick Shad bait hard when fished as a swiim bait around jetties or deeper 4' to 6' of water. Redfish and trout
have been caught everywhere in shallower water in the mornings or late evenings fishing like the bait like a jerk shad using a 1/16 oz or 1/8 oz jig head.
The Gator Minnow has been fished the same way and definetly getting it's share of hook ups, but everyone says the Kick Shad's action is just unbelievable
and caught fish just about everywhere it was used. With the fall just around the corner we will keep watch on these plastics and add to these results.
