B & C Weedless Spoon
Angler Outfitters would like to introduce you to the B & C weedless spoon. Spoons have been around for years
and most fishermen/women have seen and used them since they can probably remember. It was a red and white striped
one I used to catch bass and stripers on Lake Buchanan and it was the first lure I had ever used. It's one of those lures
that some know and trust will catch fish when all else fails.
This spoon that we are currently still testing has been designed for saltwater fishing. At first glance it looks just like
the other popular spoons used to catch mostly redfish from the gulf coast to the east coast. But what you might notice
is that this weedless spoon has been finished and polished with a bright copper color. We were very excited to try this out
as soon we got it because the Johnson sprite in the copper color has been a long time favorite for finding those redfish,
especially when all else wasn't working, but this copper spoon is weedless!
Bill Lamb of B & C Outdoors has told us that this spoon is in the early stages of production and will more than
likely have a few design tweaks before it is finished and ready for the stores. Our team is still testing and trying these new
spoons out up and down the Texas coast as well as the Florida gulf and east coast of Florida. The results we have generated in
about 2 weeks of fishing this lure had to be written although we are still waiting additional feedback from our other team members.
We will update this review as we get more reports and feedback from the others.
So far here is what we have to say in a short time testing this weedless spoon.

Lure Action
This spoon has the same action as the other popular weedless spoon. Nothing really to report other than it did act and swim as
expected by any spoon. The weed guard did it's job perfectly. We dragged this lure through grass in less than a foot of water
and not once did we pull in any weeds with it. If you look close, you will notice that the guard is a little longer than most
and the flexibility of it allowed us to adjust and shape it just the way we wanted it.

Durability and Pricing
Oh how we love teeth marks on our lures at the boat ramp or on the "retired lure wall" in our garage. Surprisingly these spoons
did not have too many scratches and marks at the end of 2-3 hours of catching fish. The coating appears to be pretty thick for
a spoon and we think this is to prolong the dulling and rusting that usually sets in with other saltwater spoons.
Priced at an introductory $3.59 (get them while they are this low) - "hint, hint"; these are sure to be found in many tackle
boxes everywhere.

Fish Caught
While these spoons still need a little touch on the finished product, the fish we caught in just
3 days of fishing was amazing. The spoon's hook was not the sharpest, and Bill is taking that information back to designers to
improve on. The eyelet, as you might notice is not closed and calls for a "non-looped" knot. Not a problem for us, but some might
prefer to use different rigging for their spoons. Bill has taken that into consideration as well. But... we saved the best for last.
Redfish, speckled trout, skip jack a.k.a. ladyfish, flounder, and sand trout were all caught on this spoon! We've occasionaly
caught more than redfish on our typical spoons, but when we pulled in the same number of trout as we did reds we thought - Wow!
Just to prove ourselves wrong, we fished known trout spots in Copano Bay. One person was using his favorite plastics, the other
was using the copper weedless spoon and the count was; plastics: 15 trout, spoon: 14 trout. The size of the fish for both lures
were the same. Ok, so we did prove ourselves wrong, by 1 trout!
We did this for 3 days straight, fishing the Rockport area bays,
moving over to Port Aransas with the same results going head to head with our other favorite lures. The poor guy fishing the other
lures didn't have much fun, but he's using the spoon now. Not only did this lure catch the variety of fish it did, but all the fish
hit this spoon hard. At one point we thought we were throwing top waters because the trout and redfish were crashing on top when
they hit it.
