BTC Lures CW Crab
It's a well known fact that ALL inshore gamefish love to eat baby crabs. CW CRAB is a patented crankbait lure,
that has been in development for over fifteen years. The idea was to create a lure that looked and tracked like
a real baby crab. The final design consists of the lure's shell and swim fins being molded from a real blue crab.
No matter how the lure lands in the water it immediately inverts to the retrieval position. Once in the water the
clear keel and bill disappear, giving the embossed legs a suspended appearance. When retrieved in water all of
these realistic features come together to perfectly imitate a live baby crab. You can apply some of your favorite
crab scent for the ultimate deception.
BTC Lures does offer a 30 day return policy on their CW Crab that states: "If you are not satisfied with the original condition
and/or performance of your purchased item, you may return the item within 30 days from ship date for a refund or replacement.
To qualify for refund or replacement, items must be returned in their original packaging with all tags and stickers attached."
To date, we have not had any returns from our customers and owner of BTC Lures says returns have been few and far between.
Instructions and Usage Tips
- First, check tracking of the lure by making a few short casts. The lure should track in a straight line
- If the lure tracks to one side, the lure needs to be tuned. This is done by gently bending the front eyelet in the opposite direction that the lure was tracking
- Make these adjustments in very small increments until the lure tracks in a straight line
- Once tuned, familiarize yourself to the feel and movements of the lure with a few short casts
- After battling larger gamefish lure may need to be tuned again
If the swim fins interfere with the hook or the line, they can be trimmed or completely removed. Trimming or removing swim fins does not affect lure performance.
When fishing in current or tidal flow always cast up current, cranking and pausing the lure, allowing it to swim naturally with the current.
The CW Crab® is absolutely life-like. It looks, swims and even rattles. Add crab scent for the ultimate deception. Apply scent to swim fins or inside swim fin holes.
The CW Crab® packaging is designed to act as a scent tray. Open the package around the outer ridge carefully to preserve the integrity and detail of the package. Add your scent to the swim fin dimples in the top portion of the package shell and place the lure into the packaging allowing the lure to absorb the scent.
Results
Team Angler Outfitters and customers have been testing this new lure for the last several months now or so and the results keep coming in.
From the Northeast to Florida then back across the Gulf of Mexico to Texas these lures are producing big catches in a variety
of fish ranging from big Northeast stripers, snook and reds in Florida to bull reds found near Texas jetties.
*Having fished
with the new color - Natural Blue Claw - we are getting the same results. Lots of redfish are being caught on this lure and we are
seeing them being used regularly now in redfish tournaments around the gulf and east coast. We also want to point out that we did better
when using Jack's Juice Crab scent to the CW crabs. The crab scent is an obvious choice but other scents worked just as well - depending on
the fish targeted.
A really unique lure that not only looks really good but works better than most of us expected.

Color Selection
*As mentioned above the CW Crab is now available in the Natural Blue Claw color. Add this new color to your tackle box if you like fishing
blue crab around the jetties - you won't be dissapointed.
So far these crabs come in two versions of the green color. One is intended for murkier waters while the other is for clearer water
conditions. Both colors are available in suspending and floating and the light green can also be purchased as a sinker. BTC Lures is
working on some versions of the crab in blue colors as we speak.
The light green in both suspsending and floating seems to be the color of choice and in over half the results this was the color reported
to be catching the fish in all areas.
These photos of the lure should speak for themselves.

Bait Action
The floater can be worked on or just under the surface. The suspending and sinker models can be retrieved slowly in shallow water and
walked across the bottom. When fishing in current or strong tidal flow, always retrieve the lure with the current.
It is recommended when fishing in current or tidal flow always cast up current, cranking and pausing the lure, allowing
it to swim naturally with the current. Swim the CW Crab naturally through, over or even bump it
against the structure. Retrieve slowly, pausing from time to time letting the lure go with the current like a real crab. |
Durability and Pricing
It is made with stainless steel through wire harness, a DACROMET® coated hook, high impact plastic, and durable polyurethane swim fins.
After a few poundings by some bigger fish adjustments were needed to the dive lip but the lure had minimal scratches to the paint. It did
not look like a top water hard plastic after a full day of blow ups. This was good news to us because we need this lure to stay intact longer
than the $4-$5 top waters.
This BTC lure was made to last so we have no problem with the near $10 price tag.
